How to install mod_proxy on apache 1.3 on cPanel
If you are looking to install mod_proxy on Apache 1.3 under cPanel do the following:
1. Goto /home/cpin/installd/buildapache/apache_1.3.37/src/modules/proxy
2. Run this command
==
/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs -i -c *.c
==
That will install mod_proxy to apache 1.3
3. Now edit the httpd.conf file and add the below entry to it.
LoadModule proxy_module libexec/mod_proxy.so
AddModule mod_proxy.c
4. Save and exit the conf file.
5. Restart apache.

An easier way to install mod_proxy is by using EasyApache. To access EasyApache, go to the WHM interface and in the “Software” section click the “Apache Update” link. Proceed through to step 5, then click the button for exhaustive options. Under Apache check the box labeled “Proxy” to enable mod_proxy.
EasyApache may also be accessed via the command line by running /scripts/easyapache
As of writing this post, this will compile mod_proxy into Apache 1.3.41 if you select Apache 1.3.
Hey David, thanks for the comment. Yes, that is correct. But this is more for instances were we don’t want to do a complete rebuild of Apache in order to enable mod_proxy.
